The series of images ‘Caught in Existence’ is inspired by Zen Buddhism and it’s thoughts about death and life. Naked humans float in darkness, metaphorically stretched into existence or eternity, alternating between stages of turbulence and stagnation. Their naked bodies blurs social affiliations and their dark luminous bodies makes it difficult to determine the ethnicity of the models.
The series of images deals with transition states in life, transcendence, the vulnerable intermediate phase before and after physical death and before the soul stabilizes in the new state. It explores the existential ‘space’ in a human life.
