x+x/y refers to the human chromosomes found in female and male cells; physically and sexually the x+x combination creates a female, while the x+y combination result in a male. But this does not mean that the biological sex can be transferred directly to the social constructed gender.

The series of images thus explores the changing relationship between males and females sexually and genitally; the prais of the androgynous individual; the changing view on sexuality, gender and the human body.

It furthermore brings focus on the anxiety and frustration that the post-modern individual experience when trying to understand his or hers sexuality in relation to gender norms and standards in a society, where these norms and traditions are being re-defined or looses their meaning – or is maintained only in new packaging.
